At Coastal Web Services, one of the first things we do when a client wants to implement search engine optimization is perform a thorough analysis of their website, both what you can see and what you can’t see. Only by checking under the hood, so to speak, can we see what upgrades would best serve our clients. There are several reasons for this. First, no two websites are exactly alike. Second, we have no idea what we’re dealing with just by taking a quick glance at your site. Lastly, and most importantly, we spend a large amount of time performing the SEO analysis because it’s such an important part of putting together a customized SEO strategy for your website.
Our SEO Analysis Will Include:
Our SEO analysis will include a number of items. We highlight several of them here.
Statistical Data – By far, the biggest part of our SEO analysis is the research. Our research produces actionable data. This is more than the information you have in your web stats program. It includes other information you probably don’t have access to, such as how many people do a search every day on your particular keyword, or what your competition is doing, and how they are doing it. There can be an overwhelming number of reports and statistics, so we try and break it down with an overview that is easy to understand, with the statistical data attached to back up what we are saying.
Glossary of Terms – We explain what various terms mean, like SERPs, META data, CMS and more. If you want a head start, check out this list of SEO jargon. You may end up with a SEO analysis with lots of data, findings, and reports, but if you can’t understand it clearly, then it may not do you much good.
Specific Keyword Research – We will gear our keyword research to keywords and key phrases that are appropriate for your site and its pages, and make recommendations for keywords or key phrases to consider optimizing for. We may also suggest adding pages to your website so we can optimize for each service you offer. We will focus on local SEO, centered on your geographic service area.
Screenshots or Other Evidence – Our SEO analysis will have a bunch of recommendations or percentages, keyword densities and other statistics. We will provide you with screen shots or printouts to back up what we are saying.
Detailed Findings – Our SEO analysis will definitely go beyond what you can find out for yourself. We will provide you with specific research customized to your site that goes pretty deep. We’ll show you a search engine simulation (what a search engine would see if it were to crawl your site), a list of broken links (if any), site structure, navigation crawlability, which pages and how many of them are being indexed, when the last search engine crawl was, and so on.
Current Search Engine Rankings – We’ll show you where you place in multiple search engines, for which key phrases, and explain why that is where you are placing.
Site Recommendations – We will give you general site recommendations (obviously not all of the specifics) such as adding pages, renaming some pages, updating the content and optimizing the text for local SEO, fixing broken links, adding your site to directories, etc. We have several SEO packages based on the number of pages your site has, the geographical area you are trying to reach, the number of hours we would work on your site each month and your budget.
It’s important to remember that SEO is an investment in the future of your business. SEO, when done right, has a good return on investment.
